This image is a time series interferometric analysis of land subsidence in southeastern Arizona and was created from Sentinel-1 SLC images acquired from 2017-2024. Just to the right of center is the Elfrida land subsidence feature, revealed in tight color fringes representing a total of 63 cm subsidence occurring over seven years. The Elfrida feature is one of four in SE Arizona, resulting from over half a century of groundwater pumping and overdraft. Time series InSAR is a very powerful technique for observing long-term landscape changes.

Tropical mountain peatland map based on multidate, multisensor Landsat, PALSAR, Radarsat-1, and TPI (Overall accuracy 90%) showing distribution of three peatland types (cushion, grass, and sedge) within the 5500 km2 study region. Mapping area below 3500 masl is grayed out. Upper left inset is a high resolution image of a 56 km2 section of the mapping area displaying the ability of the multiple sensor approach to delineate individual small peatlands [Colour figure can be viewed at wileyonlinelibrary.com]
