The Alaska Satellite Facility (ASF), in collaboration with the OPERA project at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), is pleased to announce that OPERA Radiometric Terrain Corrected from Sentinel-1 (RTC-S1) products are now available in NASA Worldview. Worldview allows users to visualize OPERA RTC-S1 products interactively over time, at local to global scales, alongside other Earth observation datasets, without requiring any data downloads.
The Observational Products for End-Users from Remote Sensing Analysis (OPERA) project, led by JPL, develops advanced SAR and optical products for scientific, hazard, and environmental applications. OPERA RTC-S1 products are high-quality, cloud-optimized backscatter products derived from acquisitions from the Sentinel-1 constellation. The products are corrected for terrain effects to enhance the interpretation of surface features and ensure consistency through time and across landscapes, enabling users to visualize and analyze physical properties of the Earth’s surface. The RTC product maps signals largely related to the physical properties of the ground scattering objects, such as surface roughness and soil moisture, and/or vegetation.
To learn about these products, visit the OPERA RTC Product Description or Story Map. OPERA RTC products can be visualized globally through Worldview and also discovered and downloaded through Vertex. For more information, contact ASF User Support.
